Overview

Cashew sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is an investigational treatment for cashew allergy being developed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This therapy involves the administration of a liquid glycerinated cashew extract under the tongue. [1, 2] The goal is to gradually desensitize the patient's immune system to cashew allergens, thereby reducing or eliminating the risk of severe allergic reactions upon accidental exposure. [1] It is being evaluated in the Phase 2 CASCADES clinical trial in children aged 1 to 11 years. [1]
