Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Casigold is an investigational product studied for its potential to lower blood pressure in individuals with high-normal blood pressure or mild hypertension. In clinical studies, Casigold was administered as capsules containing a total of 15 mg of the tripeptide isoleucine-proline-proline (IPP) per day over a period of four weeks. The primary objective was to demonstrate a blood pressure-lowering effect, while secondary objectives included collecting safety data and exploring mechanisms by measuring renin and angiotensin I and II levels, as well as evaluating genetic determinants related to blood pressure response. Casigold appears to be derived from bioactive peptides, specifically IPP, which are known angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors that may exert antihypertensive effects by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II—a key step in regulating vascular tone and fluid balance[3]. The study design was randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, and cross-over[3].
