Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of three monoclonal antibodies: casirivimab and imdevimab (together known as REGEN-COV or Ronapreve) plus tocilizumab. Casirivimab and imdevimab target the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, preventing viral attachment and entry into human cells. Tocilizumab is an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist. This combination has been studied for treating severe COVID-19 cases, particularly in patients with critical illness requiring oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation. The combination appears to provide complementary mechanisms of action, with the antibody cocktail directly neutralizing the virus while tocilizumab addresses the inflammatory response.
