Casp1i is a discovery-stage small peptidomimetic inhibitor of caspase-1 (interleukin-1 converting enzyme) being developed by IPCURE. Caspase-1 is a cysteine protease that plays a critical role in the innate immune system by processing the inactive precursors of the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) into their active forms. It also mediates pyroptosis, a form of programmed cell death associated with inflammation. By utilizing a peptidomimetic scaffold, IPCURE aims to achieve potent and selective inhibition of caspase-1 to address various inflammatory and neurodegenerative pathologies. The drug is currently in the early discovery phase of development.
