Overview

CAStem (also known as ZH901 or CAStem Cell Injection) is an allogeneic, clinical-grade human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived M-type cell (mesenchymal stem cell-like cell) therapy developed by Beijing Zehui Chenxing Biotechnology (Zephyrm Biotech). Designed as an off-the-shelf, serum-free cellular injection, CAStem leverages the immunomodulatory and stromal regulatory properties of M-type cells to treat conditions characterized by injury, inflammation, and degeneration. The cells function by secreting anti-inflammatory cytokines to suppress inflammation and growth factors to promote tissue repair and cell healing. CAStem is currently in Phase II clinical development in China for multiple indications, including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD), acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease (AE-ILD), and meniscus injury.
