CAT-320 is a fully human monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize interleukin-13 (IL-13), a key Th2 cytokine implicated in the pathogenesis of asthma and other allergic inflammatory conditions. By binding with high affinity to IL-13, CAT-320 prevents the cytokine from interacting with its receptor complex (IL-13Rα1/IL-4Rα), thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways that drive airway hyperresponsiveness, eosinophilic inflammation, and mucus hypersecretion. Originally developed by Cambridge Antibody Technology, the program was integrated into the MedImmune/AstraZeneca pipeline following the acquisition of CAT. CAT-320 was evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of asthma; however, its development was ultimately discontinued as the developers prioritized other IL-13-targeting candidates, most notably tralokinumab (CAT-354).
