CAT-5571

CAT-5571 is a small molecule autophagy activator developed by Catabasis Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to promote autophagy, a cellular process that helps clear intracellular pathogens, specifically targeting *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. In August 2020, Catabasis entered into a preclinical collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute to evaluate CAT-5571 as a potential oral therapy for clearing persistent lung infections in patients with both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant tuberculosis. The drug has previously demonstrated the ability to promote autophagy and clear other bacteria in preclinical models.
