Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cat dander skin prick solution is a diagnostic allergen extract developed by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-Pharmaceutical for the identification of cat-specific IgE-mediated allergic sensitization. It is utilized in skin prick testing (SPT), a procedure where the solution is applied to the skin and the epidermis is punctured to allow the allergen to interact with local mast cells. In sensitized individuals, the cat dander allergens cross-link specific IgE antibodies bound to the surface of mast cells, triggering degranulation and the subsequent release of inflammatory mediators like histamine. This process results in a localized wheal-and-flare reaction, providing a rapid and specific diagnostic indicator for allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and other allergic diseases. The solution was evaluated in a Phase III multi-center trial in China to assess its safety and diagnostic performance compared to established controls.
