Overview

Cat Kof is an oral combination tablet developed and marketed by Hab Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of cough and associated allergic symptoms. The formulation contains four active ingredients: bromhexine (8 mg), chlorpheniramine maleate (2 mg), dextromethorphan (10 mg), and guaifenesin (100 mg). This multi-modal product combines the effects of a mucolytic (bromhexine), a first-generation H1 receptor antagonist (chlorpheniramine), a centrally acting antitussive (dextromethorphan), and an expectorant (guaifenesin). By targeting the histamine H1 receptor, it alleviates allergic symptoms such as sneezing and watery eyes, while the antitussive and mucolytic components work to suppress cough and facilitate the clearance of mucus from the respiratory tract. Cat Kof is currently approved and available in the Indian pharmaceutical market.
