Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cathepsin S siRNA (also referred to as CatS siRNA) is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed to target and silence the expression of cathepsin S (CTSS). Cathepsin S is a lysosomal cysteine protease that plays a critical role in the degradation of the extracellular matrix, facilitating tumor invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. By utilizing RNA interference (RNAi) to knock down cathepsin S expression, this agent aims to inhibit tumor growth, invasion, and angiogenesis. It has been explored in early-stage clinical research (Phase 1) by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer).
