Overview

Catridecacog is a recombinant form of the human coagulation Factor XIII A-subunit (rFXIII A-subunit), produced using genetic engineering technology. It is indicated for routine prophylaxis to prevent bleeding in adult and pediatric patients with congenital Factor XIII A-subunit deficiency—a rare inherited bleeding disorder caused by a lack or dysfunction of the FXIII A-subunit. Catridecacog replaces the missing or defective FXIII A-subunit in these patients, thereby stabilizing blood clots by cross-linking fibrin and strengthening clot structure. The drug has been approved for use in multiple regions including the US (as Tretten) and EU (as NovoThirteen). It does not treat acute bleeds but is used as regular preventive therapy[1][3][4][5][7].
