Overview
Cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin (CEGI) is an animal-derived neuroprotective drug approved in China for the treatment of central and peripheral nerve injuries, including stroke, cerebral infarction, and diabetic neuropathy. It is a compound preparation consisting of rabbit muscle extract and cattle brain gangliosides, containing active components such as ganglioside GM1, carnosine, polypeptides, free amino acids, and nucleic acids. CEGI exerts multi-target neuroprotective effects by promoting nerve repair and regeneration, reducing neuroinflammation, inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis, and improving cognitive function.
