Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Caudal Epidural Injection with DepoMedrol is a procedural drug intervention developed and evaluated by the Pain Management Center of Paducah for the treatment of chronic low back pain and related spinal conditions. The intervention consists of a co-administered mixture of methylprednisolone acetate (brand name: DepoMedrol), a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid manufactured by Pfizer, and lidocaine, an amide local anesthetic. Administered via caudal epidural injection through the sacral hiatus under fluoroscopic guidance, the combination targets the inflammatory cascade and nerve root irritation in the epidural space. It has been evaluated in randomized, double-blind clinical trials (such as NCT00370799) for indications including lumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, discogenic pain, and post-lumbar laminectomy syndrome.
