Overview
Cavilon Barrier Film is a terpolymer-based, alcohol-free liquid barrier film designed to protect intact or damaged skin from irritation caused by body fluids, friction, shear forces, and medical adhesives. Upon application to the skin (via spray, wipe, or wand), it dries quickly to form a breathable, transparent coating that lasts up to 72 hours. The film is waterproof and flexible due to its unique blend of polymer and silicone fluid/oligomer. It is indicated for use in preventing medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI), protecting periwound and peristomal skin from moisture-associated damage (such as incontinence-associated dermatitis), and minimizing friction under devices or dressings. The product can be used on adults, children over one month of age (and neonates with specific gestational criteria), but should not be applied on infected areas or as the sole dressing for wounds requiring bacterial protection[1][2][3][5][6][7].
