CAY001

CAY001 is a synthetic short-chain polyphosphate (polyP) complexed with silica nanoparticle (SNP), developed as an intravenous agent for rapid hemostatic control. It is designed to accelerate the coagulation cascade at sites of active bleeding while remaining inert in healthy tissue. The drug is being developed by Cayuga Biotech for the acute treatment of major hemorrhage, including postpartum hemorrhage, traumatic injury, surgical bleeding, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and bleeding associated with irreversible platelet inhibitors such as clopidogrel. Its mechanism allows systemic administration to reach non-compressible injury sites and potentially offers a better safety profile than current hemostatic agents[1][4][5][6][8].
