CB-01-33

CB-01-33 is an investigational, oral, colonic-release formulation of the bile acid sequestrant colesevelam, developed by Cosmo Pharmaceuticals. It utilizes the proprietary Multi Matrix (MMX) technology to deliver the active ingredient directly to the colon, where it binds excess bile acids. This mechanism is intended to treat Bile Acid Diarrhea (BAD), a condition characterized by chronic watery diarrhea resulting from bile acid malabsorption or overproduction, which leads to increased water and electrolyte secretion in the large intestine. By sequestering bile acids, CB-01-33 prevents their interaction with the colonic mucosa, thereby alleviating symptoms.
