CB275 is an investigational small molecule dual orexin receptor antagonist (DORA) developed by Hangzhou Chengbang Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of insomnia. Unlike traditional sedative-hypnotics that target GABA receptors and cause generalized central nervous system depression, CB275 specifically targets the orexin signaling pathway, which is a key regulator of the transition between wakefulness and sleep. By antagonizing both orexin receptor type 1 (OX1R) and orexin receptor type 2 (OX2R), the drug inhibits the activity of wake-promoting neuropeptides (orexin A and B), thereby promoting sleep onset and improving sleep maintenance. CB275 is designed to provide a more targeted approach to sleep disorders with a potentially improved safety profile regarding next-day residual effects and dependency compared to older classes of sleep medications.
