CB301 is a preclinical-stage complement-targeting biologic being developed by Cascade Biotechnology for the treatment of Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO). The drug is developed using the company's proprietary sC3 (Complement Depleting Protein) platform, which is designed to modulate or deplete complement activity. In Neuromyelitis Optica, the complement system plays a central role in the inflammatory destruction of astrocytes and subsequent neuronal damage. By targeting the complement pathway, CB301 aims to mitigate the neuroinflammatory response and prevent the relapses characteristic of the disease. As of early 2024, the program is in the discovery phase, undergoing in vitro research.
