Overview

CBD-bFGF is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF, also known as FGF-2) fused to a collagen-binding domain (CBD). Developed by researchers led by Dr. Yali Hu at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, this biologic is designed to bind specifically to collagen scaffolds or the extracellular matrix of scarred tissues. By anchoring to the site of injury, it provides a sustained-release delivery system that promotes localized angiogenesis and tissue regeneration. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of endometrial fibrosis, intrauterine adhesions (Asherman's syndrome), and thin endometrium to address female infertility caused by uterine scarring. In clinical trials, it is often administered via ultrasound-guided intrauterine injection, sometimes in conjunction with collagen scaffolds and bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs).
