Overview

CBD-NE is a novel oral solid dosage formulation of cannabidiol (CBD) developed by DSM Nutritional Products (now part of dsm-firmenich). Utilizing the CBtru® platform, this formulation is delivered as a powder-filled capsule designed to overcome the bioavailability challenges and patient convenience issues associated with traditional oil-based CBD products. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from the *Cannabis sativa* plant that interacts with the endocannabinoid system and various other molecular targets. DSM has evaluated CBD-NE in Phase 1 randomized, open-label pharmacokinetic studies to compare its absorption profile under both fed and fasted conditions against the FDA-approved CBD oral solution, Epidyolex. The formulation is being investigated for potential applications in epilepsy, insomnia, pain disorders, and other central nervous system diseases.
