Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CBD-X is a **highly purified cannabidiol-rich extract** derived from a specific high-CBD cannabis strain named CBD-X. It is under scientific investigation for its **anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects**. Preclinical studies indicate that CBD-X extract significantly downregulates the secretion of key pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IFN-γ from human immune cells (neutrophils, PBMC-derived T cells, and CD4+ T cells) and murine models. Mechanistically, CBD-X appears to modulate T cell activation by inhibiting phosphorylation of proteins in the T cell receptor (TCR) signaling cascade including Lck, Zap70, and STAT5. CBD-X also inhibits the migration of T cells towards the chemokine SDF-1/CXCR4 axis. Animal studies demonstrate substantial attenuation of cytokine release and immune cell infiltration in models of lung and systemic inflammation, and in murine models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), CBD-X suppressed leukocytosis and neutrophil migration to inflamed joints, skewing immune cell ratios towards a pro-resolving phenotype and increasing anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. CBD-X's developer and commercial manufacturer have not been specifically disclosed in publicly accessible literature as of 2024, and it is not an approved pharmaceutical product.
