Overview

CBD82S is a proprietary, water-soluble, glycosylated cannabidiol (CBD) prodrug developed by Trait Biosciences. Created through the enzymatic addition of glucose to hemp-derived CBD, CBD82S overcomes the natural lipophilicity and water insolubility of conventional CBD without requiring oils, emulsifiers, or microencapsulation. This chemical modification enhances its physicochemical properties, resulting in superior epithelial transport, tissue permeation (across skin, intestinal, and buccal tissues), and metabolic stability, including a 25-fold increase in apparent half-life in human liver microsomes compared to conventional CBD. CBD82S is designed for versatile delivery routes, including topical, oral, inhalable, and injectable formulations. In exploratory animal studies, topical application of CBD82S significantly improved joint comfort and mobility in dogs and cats with chronic joint pain, while oral administration in mouse models demonstrated potential calming and anxiety-reducing effects.
