Overview

CBL-514D is a derivative compound of CBL-514, developed by Caliway Biopharmaceuticals. It is being investigated as a novel small-molecule injectable drug for the treatment of rare diseases, including Dercum's disease and Obstructive Sleep Anpea. While specific mechanistic data for CBL-514D are not yet published, it is closely related to CBL-514, which acts as a first-in-class lipolysis agent that induces adipocyte (fat cell) apoptosis without causing necrosis or damage to surrounding tissues. The parent compound upregulates apoptosis mediators such as caspase 3 and the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, leading to dose-dependent fat cell death and reduction in subcutaneous fat volume[7][9]. Clinical studies with the parent molecule have shown significant efficacy in reducing painful lipomas and subcutaneous fat with a favorable safety profile.
