CBM-201 is a preclinical small molecule candidate developed by Cellion BioMed for the treatment of liver fibrosis. As part of the CBM-Nx/Fx series, it functions as an inhibitor or modulator of the intermediate-conductance calcium-activated potassium channel (KCa3.1). The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of KCa3.1 to increase local concentrations of adenosine and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This signaling cascade is intended to produce multi-modal therapeutic effects, including anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities, thereby addressing the underlying pathology of chronic liver diseases and preventing the progression of fibrosis.
