CBM-401 is a small molecule inhibitor of the KCa3.1 channel (intermediate conductance calcium-activated potassium channel) currently in preclinical development by Cellion BioMed for the treatment of hypertrophic scars. The drug belongs to the CBM-Nx/Fx series and functions by modulating KCa3.1 activity to increase local concentrations of adenosine and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This signaling cascade results in potent anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects, which are intended to mitigate the excessive tissue growth and inflammation associated with scar formation. Cellion BioMed is developing this candidate in partnership with KINS.
