Overview

CBM-801 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of the KCa3.1 (intermediate conductance calcium-activated potassium) channel, currently under development by Cellion BioMed for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). As part of the CBM-Nx/Fx series, CBM-801 functions by modulating KCa3.1 activity, which leads to an increase in local concentrations of adenosine and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). These biochemical changes result in significant anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects, potentially addressing the underlying pathology of IBD. Cellion BioMed has collaborated with Preclina to advance the development of this candidate.
