Overview

cBMA aspirate (concentrated bone marrow aspirate) is an autologous cell therapy consisting of a concentrated mixture of bone marrow-derived cells, including mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and hematopoietic progenitor cells. The therapy is prepared at the point of care by harvesting bone marrow from the patient's iliac crest and concentrating it using specialized devices such as Zimmer Biomet's BioCue or MarrowStim. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) and the prevention of ischemic wound complications in patients undergoing below-knee amputation (BKA). The mechanism of action involves the promotion of angiogenesis and vasculogenesis in ischemic tissues through the paracrine signaling and differentiation potential of the concentrated progenitor cells.
