Overview

CBP siRNA is a research-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the CREB-binding protein (CBP), a key transcriptional coactivator and histone acetyltransferase. By targeting the mRNA of CBP for degradation, this compound reduces the cellular levels of the protein, thereby inhibiting its role in gene transcription and epigenetic modification. In preclinical research, CBP siRNA has been utilized as an experimental tool to investigate the pathophysiology of neuropathic pain and the progression of prostate cancer. For example, intrathecal administration in rat models of spared nerve injury has shown that knocking down CBP in the spinal cord can inhibit mechanical allodynia. In oncology research, it has been used to study the differential roles of CBP and its paralog p300 in cell survival and invasion. It is primarily produced as a custom research reagent and is not currently associated with a commercial clinical development program.
