CBP501 + cisplatin is an investigational combination therapy for cancer, primarily studied in advanced solid tumors such as malignant pleural mesothelioma, non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and others. CBP501 is a chemically modified duodecapeptide that acts as a G2 checkpoint abrogator and calmodulin-modulating peptide. It increases the influx of platinum into tumor cells by binding to calmodulin, thereby enhancing the cytotoxicity of platinum-based chemotherapy agents like cisplatin. This results in increased DNA-platinum adduct formation and disruption of DNA repair at the G2 checkpoint. Cisplatin is a well-established platinum-based chemotherapy drug that cross-links DNA strands to inhibit replication and induce cell death. The combination aims to sensitize tumor cells to cisplatin by increasing intracellular platinum concentrations and impairing cellular repair mechanisms[1][2][5][6]. Clinical trials have shown promising activity for this combination in patients with refractory or previously treated cancers[6][7].
