Overview

CBS-101 is an investigational allogeneic cell replacement therapy being developed by CiRC Biosciences for the treatment of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). The therapy is based on a proprietary chemically induced reprogramming (CiRC) platform that enables the direct conversion of fibroblasts into functional retinal cells, specifically photoreceptors, using a cocktail of small molecules rather than viral vectors or genetic modification. By replacing damaged or lost photoreceptor cells in the retina, CBS-101 aims to restore visual function in patients suffering from RP, a progressive degenerative eye disease. The approach is designed to be an 'off-the-shelf' allogeneic product, potentially offering a scalable solution for retinal regeneration.
