Overview

CBS-103 is an investigational allogeneic cell replacement therapy being developed by CiRC Biosciences for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. The therapy utilizes the company's proprietary direct lineage reprogramming technology, which allows for the conversion of one somatic cell type directly into another (such as neurons) without passing through a pluripotent stem cell state. CBS-103 is designed to replace the dopaminergic neurons in the brain that are progressively lost in patients with Parkinson's Disease. By restoring these specific neuronal populations, the therapy aims to re-establish dopamine signaling and alleviate the motor and non-motor symptoms associated with the condition. As an allogeneic therapy, CBS-103 is intended to be an "off-the-shelf" product, potentially increasing accessibility and standardizing treatment compared to autologous approaches.
