CBS-104 is an investigative allogeneic cell replacement therapy being developed by CiRC Biosciences for the treatment of refractory epilepsies. The therapy is generated using CiRC's proprietary chemically induced direct reprogramming technology, which converts somatic cells into specific therapeutic cell types without passing through a pluripotent stem cell stage. This approach is intended to provide a functional cell population to replace or supplement damaged or dysfunctional neurons in the brains of patients who do not respond to traditional anti-seizure medications. By integrating into the neural circuitry, these cells are designed to restore the balance between excitatory and inhibitory signals, thereby reducing the frequency and severity of seizures.
