Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**CBS-Na** is the water-soluble sodium-salt form of CBS, an experimental curcumin-borneol prodrug synthesized through a succinate ester linkage. In cellular and collagen-induced arthritis rat studies, CBS-Na showed antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, with suppression of ERK and p38 phosphorylation, reduced c-Fos/AP-1 signaling, and lower expression of MMP9 and inflammatory cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-1beta. It is a preclinical candidate investigated for rheumatoid arthritis and has not been identified as an approved or marketed medicine.
