Overview

CBT-004 is a small molecule, multi-kinase inhibitor developed for the treatment of vascularized pinguecula, an eye condition characterized by abnormal vascularization of the conjunctiva. Its mechanism of action involves potent inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) and platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), both key drivers in angiogenesis and blood vessel maintenance. By blocking these pathways, CBT-004 aims to reduce or reverse abnormal blood vessel formation associated with pinguecula. The drug is being developed by Cloudbreak Therapeutics and has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for this indication. There are currently no FDA-approved therapies specifically for vascularized pinguecula[1][2][3][5].
