Overview

CBT-101 is an investigational, orally administered small-molecule therapy being developed by Cibus Therapeutics in collaboration with Greenstone Biosciences and Mission: Cure. It is designed to treat chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal conditions, specifically chronic pancreatitis and ulcerative colitis. The drug's mechanism involves the dual modulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling pathways. By targeting these key drivers of inflammation, CBT-101 aims to reduce tissue injury and potentially halt or prevent the progression of fibrosis (scarring) in the pancreas and colon. The therapy is currently in the IND-enabling stage, with first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trials anticipated to begin in 2026.
