Overview

**CC-1233** is a novel small molecule inhibitor of cyclophilin D (also known as peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase D, or PPID), a mitochondrial protein implicated in cell death pathways such as necrosis and apoptosis under stress conditions. Developed by Cypralis in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, it demonstrated potent inhibition in preclinical models of acute pancreatitis, where it reduced tissue damage and inflammation in vitro and in vivo. The drug targets cyclophilin D to prevent its role in mitochondrial permeability transition pore formation, offering potential therapeutic benefit in acute inflammatory conditions involving cyclophilin dysregulation.[1][5]
