CC-42344 is an investigational, oral small molecule antiviral drug developed by Cocrystal Pharma for the treatment of pandemic and seasonal influenza A. It acts as a broad-spectrum inhibitor of the influenza virus replication enzyme by specifically targeting the PB2 subunit of the viral polymerase complex, thereby blocking an essential step in viral replication and transcription. This unique mechanism provides a high barrier to resistance and has demonstrated potent activity against both seasonal and pandemic influenza A strains, including those resistant to existing antivirals such as oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and baloxavir marboxil (Xofluza).
