CC-986353 (also known as BMS-986353) is an investigational, off-the-shelf, allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy that targets the CD19 antigen. Developed by Bristol Myers Squibb (following its acquisition of Celgene), the therapy is derived from healthy donors (HD) rather than the patients themselves. The T cells are engineered to express a CAR specific for CD19, a protein widely expressed on the surface of B cells. To enable allogeneic administration and minimize the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), the cells undergo gene editing to disrupt the T-cell receptor (TCR) complex. CC-986353 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of B-cell malignancies and various severe, refractory autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis, and idiopathic inflammatory myositis.
