Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CC2002 is a circular RNA (circRNA) therapeutic candidate being developed by Shanghai CirCode Biomed for the treatment of anemia. Utilizing the company's proprietary circRNA-LNP platform, CC2002 is engineered to provide sustained expression of erythropoietin (EPO) protein. Unlike traditional linear mRNA, the circular structure of CC2002's RNA payload confers increased stability and resistance to exonuclease-mediated degradation, potentially leading to a longer therapeutic window and reduced dosing frequency. The expressed EPO protein binds to and activates the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating their proliferation and differentiation into mature red blood cells. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
