CC2205 is a circular RNA (circRNA) vaccine candidate developed by CirCode Bio (环码生物) for the prevention of Herpes Zoster (shingles). Utilizing a proprietary circular RNA platform, CC2205 is designed to overcome the stability and translation limitations of traditional linear mRNA vaccines. Circular RNA is a covalently closed loop that lacks 5' and 3' ends, making it inherently resistant to exonuclease-mediated degradation and potentially providing a longer half-life and more sustained protein expression in vivo. CC2205 encodes a viral antigen, typically the Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) glycoprotein E, to stimulate a robust and durable immune response, including both neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activity. It is currently in preclinical development.
