CC8 is a heterodimeric disintegrin isolated from the venom of the North African horned viper, *Cerastes cerastes*. It belongs to a class of small, cysteine-rich proteins that are potent inhibitors of integrin-mediated cell adhesion. In preclinical research, CC8 has demonstrated significant anticancer activity against human glioblastoma (GBM) cells by triggering apoptosis and restraining tumor cell dissemination. Its mechanism of action involves the competitive antagonism of integrin receptors on the cell surface, which disrupts essential interactions between the tumor cells and the extracellular matrix. This disruption leads to the inhibition of cell migration and the induction of programmed cell death, making CC8 a potential therapeutic lead for the treatment of aggressive and invasive brain tumors.
