CCI-001 is a novel colchicine derivative that binds to tubulin, a component of microtubule polymers essential for cellular processes, particularly cell division and mitosis. It has demonstrated stronger binding to β-III tubulin, a tubulin subtype overexpressed in many cancers. Initially developed by University of Alberta, it is now being developed by PharmaMatrix Holdings Ltd.
