Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CCL20 blocking antibody refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies designed to target and neutralize C-C motif chemokine ligand 20 (CCL20). CCL20 is the sole high-affinity ligand for the C-C chemokine receptor type 6 (CCR6), and the CCL20-CCR6 axis plays a critical role in the recruitment of pro-inflammatory immune cells, particularly Th17 cells, to sites of tissue injury and inflammation. By blocking CCL20, these antibodies prevent its interaction with CCR6, thereby mitigating inflammatory and autoimmune responses. This therapeutic approach has been investigated for various conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and acute kidney injury (AKI) progression to chronic kidney disease (CKD).
