Overview

CCN5 recombinant protein (also known as rh-CCN5 or WISP2) is a recombinant human protein derived from the CCN family of matricellular proteins, encoded by the WISP2/CCN5 gene. It is currently a research-stage compound with no approved brand name or single developing pharmaceutical company, primarily available as a research reagent from multiple suppliers. Preclinical studies have investigated its potential in promoting pancreatic beta-cell proliferation and survival for diabetes therapy, as well as inhibiting anti-VEGF drug-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in retinal pigment epithelium cells. Its biological targets include cell-cycle regulators such as CDK4 and cyclin D1, and it has been shown to modulate CCN2 expression.
