CCX025

CCX025 is an orally bioavailable small molecule antagonist of the C-C chemokine receptor type 9 (CCR9), developed by ChemoCentryx for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and other gastrointestinal disorders. CCR9 is a chemokine receptor predominantly expressed on gut-homing T cells, and its interaction with the ligand CCL25 (TECK) facilitates the migration of these cells into the intestinal mucosa. By selectively blocking CCR9, CCX025 aimed to inhibit the localized inflammatory response characteristic of conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The drug was structurally distinct from ChemoCentryx's other CCR9 antagonist, vercirnon (Traficet-EN), and completed Phase I clinical testing for safety and pharmacokinetics before its development was discontinued.
