Overview

CCX354 is an orally available small molecule antagonist of the C-C chemokine receptor type 1 (CCR1), developed by ChemoCentryx. It is designed to inhibit the migration of monocytes and macrophages into inflamed synovial tissue by selectively blocking CCR1, a key driver in the recruitment of inflammatory cells implicated in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). By targeting this pathway, CCX354 aims to reduce joint inflammation and destruction associated with RA. Clinical trials have shown that it is generally well tolerated and demonstrates evidence of clinical activity in patients with RA who are partially responsive to methotrexate therapy[3][5][6][7].
