Overview

CCX8037 is a selective small molecule antagonist of the C-C chemokine receptor type 9 (CCR9). Developed by ChemoCentryx, it targets the CCL25/CCR9 signaling axis, which has been implicated in the proliferation and progression of various malignancies, including pancreatic cancer. Preclinical research presented at the AACR 2010 meeting demonstrated that CCX8037 effectively inhibits CCL25-mediated phosphorylation of STAT3, a key regulator of cell growth, thereby reducing the proliferation of pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) and invasive pancreatic cancer cells. While other CCR9 antagonists from the same developer, such as vercirnon (CCX282), were primarily investigated for inflammatory bowel disease, CCX8037 was specifically explored for its potential therapeutic application in oncology.
