CD009 is a bifunctional recombinant fusion protein currently in the discovery phase, developed by Protheragen for the treatment of solid tumors. The molecule is designed to simultaneously target the Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1) checkpoint and the Interleukin-10 (IL-10) pathway. By binding to PD-L1, CD009 aims to block the inhibitory interaction between PD-L1 and the PD-1 receptor, thereby restoring the activity of exhausted T cells within the tumor microenvironment. The IL-10 component of the fusion protein is intended to modulate the immune response, typically by leveraging IL-10's ability to stimulate the expansion and cytotoxic function of CD8+ T cells when localized to the tumor. This dual-targeting approach is intended to provide synergistic anti-tumor activity compared to monotherapy.
