CD117-targeted CAR-T cells (Zhujiang Hospital) is an experimental chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's T cells to express a CAR that specifically targets CD117 (also known as c-Kit or Mast/stem cell growth factor receptor Kit). CD117 is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that is essential for the survival and proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and is frequently overexpressed on the surface of AML blasts. By directing T cells to recognize CD117, the therapy aims to selectively eliminate leukemic cells. This program is part of a broader clinical research initiative at Zhujiang Hospital evaluating multiple CAR-T targets, including CD33, CD38, and CD123, to address the high heterogeneity of AML.
