Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CD11b-neutralizing monoclonal antibodies are therapeutic agents designed to target and block CD11b (integrin alpha-M, a subunit of the Mac-1/CR3 heterodimer), which is highly expressed on myeloid cells such as macrophages, microglia, and neutrophils. By neutralizing CD11b, these antibodies inhibit leukocyte adhesion, migration, and infiltration into inflamed or damaged tissues, and modulate macrophage polarization (e.g., promoting anti-inflammatory M2-like phenotypes or suppressing immunosuppressive M2-like tumor-associated macrophages depending on the disease context). Preclinical and clinical research has explored CD11b-neutralizing antibodies for various indications, including acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression, ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in transplantation, and immuno-oncology (where blocking CD11b can reprogram the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment).
